Serving adults age 18 and older, UCSF Psychiatry provides consultations, evaluations and treatment through visits to our clinic. We care for patients with a wide range of mental health concerns and behavioral disturbances, including depression, anxiety and psychosis.

We offer specialized care for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), tic disorders and bipolar disorders. We also have services tailored to the needs of specific patient groups, such as the LGBTQ+ community, older adults and women.

Each patient receives an initial assessment. Based on the results, we develop an individualized treatment plan, which may include brief or long-term individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy (such as group cognitive behavioral therapy, or CBT), ongoing medication management and referrals to community providers.

For qualified patients with certain serious mental health conditions, we offer electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).

We are part of the UCSF Weill Institute for Neurosciences.
